Trupanion plans cover dogs and cats enrolled under the age of 14 years.

We have removed waiting periods to start coverage on the first day of the month following the group effective date to align with your employee’s pay periods. We think this is the best way to make sure that employees have coverage as soon as possible, and as soon as they are paying for it.

To ensure the fairest treatment and best-value for all members, cranial cruciate ligament injuries shall be subject to a six-month observation period in which those claims will not be covered. This does not apply to hip dysplasia treatment. By adding this extended delay in coverage, we are able to continuously protect your pet while keeping the premium affordable.

A wellness plan usually allows pet owners to finance the costs of expected, routine care for their pet, such as vaccinations, dental cleanings, annual examinations, etc. When sold by a third party or an insurance company wellness coverage layers in a frictional cost and no longer offers the consumer value. Rather than offer pet owners products they can already budget for, we have created a product that helps pet owners pay for the unexpected so they never have to make a decision for their pet based on what they can afford.

Members can take their pet to any licensed veterinarian in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico or Australia. We do not dictate coverage and there is no fee schedule. Reimbursements are based on the full cost of care.

No. Since spaying and neutering are expenses a pet owner can plan and budget for, they are not covered. However, treating complications that may arise from a spay or neuter procedure is covered.

Yes. Trupanion pet insurance has been designed for the lifetime of the pet. The participant may port the policy by updating their payment information with no lapse or existing condition alteration.
